Regenerate Yourself in 2010

January 5th, 2010

It has been a while since I’ve actively blogged. The last two years have been very challenging for many of us. Several times I thought of talking to you, but I was afraid that I did not have many inspirational things to say.

Like many people, I got swept up in worrying about my business, especially when the phones did not ring as often as before. I worried about retirement. I worried about healthcare. And I was also keenly aware of the extravagant retail habits that I had formed and found them hard to break.

Then I realized that often the most trying times are also the best time to regenerate ourselves. So, I did a series of self-reflections and put together a plan of action with the help of a few experts. First things first was to get organized. It felt good just to know which of my patterns were still good for me to keep and what I needed to let go of. Secondly, in order to be more proactive in the marketplace, I worked on regaining clarity of who I am and what I do so that I could send out clear messages. Then, I adopted a few select tools to help me generate the kind of work that reflected my values and mission. I have updated my website, joined several social networks, and started a few marketing campaigns. I also spent more time with my friends and donated my time and money towards community services.

As the year comes to a close, I have regained my positive outlook and optimistic nature that has in turn brought me a few very promising and meaningful client projects. I imagine this is what any typical business needs to go through in order to regenerate itself. It is our job as a change agent to help them through this process.

I am pleased to tell you that Gestalt Institute of Cleveland is starting its one-year training program called
Becoming an Effective Organization Intervenerthis month. It is our third year of offering this program. Secondly, we launched a Coach Training program in November that had gained ICF’s blessings for Continuing Coach Education Units. My colleague Curt and I will be teaching a workshop called Coaching across Differencesin January as part of this program. Moreover, my colleague Deborah and I will be doing a workshop called, “How To Use Yourself To Have A Better Impact and Influence In The Work You Do ” in February. We have offered this Gestalt Introductory class every year since 2005. As usual, if you or someone you know can benefit from any of the above education opportunities, please take action and join us.

Finally, please check out my new website at I am very proud of it, and welcome your feedback.

Wishing you a happy and healthy regeneration in the New Year, and a prosperous 2010!
